What is a Static Page?
The term Static Page (static page) we often hear. Currently every blog platform has a static page feature. But what is the static page?
Static pages are pages of a blog that are not part of the order of posts. This type of page is almost similar to a website page that is independent and can be given its own rules as desired. However, static pages on blogs still have general rules according to their template and styling (CSS).
Unlike the post pages (articles), static pages are not in a specific time sequence. When displayed, it is individual and consists of only one post; while the post page can be displayed simultaneously with other post pages, for example: there are 5 posts in one page displayed. This feature was added to Blogger around early 2010 to support the static page's user needs. On the WordPress blog platform, this feature has been around since a few years ago.
To better see the difference between static pages and Blogger post pages, take a look at the following example:
Note the difference between the post page url and the following static page url:
Post page url :The post page has an url with folders and subfolders sorted by year and month. After that it is followed by the post html file which will be displayed (in WordPress subfolder even up to post date, eg ... / 2011/08/01 / .....). While on the static page, the folder used to store the file is p which stands for "page", after which followed by the html file which will be displayed. On the blog system, the post page will be organized / archived in the latest order of time (eg archive url: https://webmasterseo3.blogspot.com/2017_10_16_archive.html). The latest page is at the top. This is actually the concept of blog, where every post is always sustainable, just as when we create a status on Facebook. While static pages are set to display independently, without containing the order of posts based on time, and not archived.

What is the Function of a Static Page?
As discussed above, static pages are not and do not go into the blog post section. Then it is very clear that static pages are not functioning as pages to display article posts. Because it is timeless (does not contain time url and is not archived based on time), static pages are perfect for loading information directly related to blogs, such as about blogs or about blog owners (about me), contacts, / sitemap, reserving ad space and various types of blog post features that want to be highlighted but not wanted to be part of the post.
In the past, about more than a year ago, Blogger users still used post pages to load similar information above. So when opening an archive of blog posts, pages like "About", "Advertise", still appear in the order of posts. The solution is to rewind the post (backdate) so that the pages are in the longest sequence. Still, the page looks less elegant because its url contains a time sequence. However, not anymore. Static pages have become a way out that is needed existence and make blog platform Blogger look more professional.
