Blogger Update New XML Sitemap & Support Custom Domain

Blogger Update New XML Sitemap & Custom Domain SupportAs we all know, Blogger has always been the last (or at least late) in improving or upgrading services and features. Understandably, Blogger is not open source and only rely on those who officially work for Blogger or Google to do the development. Unlike WordPress which is always experiencing updates and the addition of new features in a short time because it is open source and supported by a very large community of developers.

I used to discuss about new modified sitemap and sitemap XML can be used for blogs that still use native domain Blogger (blogspot.com), while for blogs that already use custom domain, sitemap in XML format not support , so have to make modifications in such a way as to create a sitemap to be registered in Google Webmaster Tools. Now?

XML Sitemap for All Blogs

In 2012 and then, Blogger releases sitemap.xml format that is actually still a test, and not fully support custom domain. Well, just now, Blogger releases a sitemap.xml that supports all blogs, both of which are still using blogspot subdomain as well as with their own custom domain. This sitemap is fully automated and placed in the root of the domain, just like the previous XML sitemap release.

Few formatting differences, if the XML sitemap used to be collected in a single page for any number of posts, now if the number of pagespost reach a certain amount, then the sitemap will be divided into several pages. This is similar to the Sitemap Yoast XML Sitemap sitemap concept inside the WordPress SEO plugin. Unfortunately, I do not get clear information on what the maximum limit is on a page. In addition, when viewed at a glance, there is no difference that can be seen. The contents are just plain or flat without a certain styling, because it updates related to certain things from the backend server, one of which is support on custom domain.

Here's a screenshot of the sitemap page for blogs with top level domains or custom domains as an example I use (sorry, my domain blur for the privacy of clients, hehe ...)

In the sitemap, there are several sub-sitemaps, namely fractions of the sitemap collections (indexes) if the number of post pages has been exceptional, for example:
www.domain.com/sitemap?page=1
www.domain.com/sitemap?page=2
www.domain.com/sitemap?page=3
and so on ... (if the number of posts is very much., ..)
Unfortunately yes that was, there is no known sitemap limitations that must be broken down into several pages. so the majority of sitemap blogs are only one page only (no index and directly contains a collection / post list).

This is something extraordinary in my opinion, because (finally) onpage SEO support for Blogger is completely complete.

So what?

Then obviously that you, especially those who use custom domain, can breathe a sigh of relief. Those using subdomains have long used sitemap.xml instead of a modified sitemap or used it as an addition and sitemap optimization. Well now, Blogger blog with custom domain can use xml sitemap in Google Webmaster Tools as mapping tool website by Google. The way is the same. For those who are new to GWT, simply open the site dashboard in Google Webmaster Tools> Choose "Sitemap" (or "Sitemap" if you use the English version) and enter the name of the sitemap file. (Check the screenshot on featured image above this post for details).

The hope?

Obviously, efforts for Onpage SEO, especially for those using custom domains, are now much more complete. But there is one thing that I think is important, hopefully in a short time Google / Blogger can provide additional features in the form of customization / sitemap settings, for example to divide the page sitemap in smaller number of posts, for example one page per 50 post, other.

How do you think this is good enough? is there any hope ahead for this XML sitemap feature? Are there any other expectations related to other SEO features on Blogger?
